Little improvement, great hope

Hun Hourn is a 5 year-old boy. He was born with Down syndrome and heart complications. Thanks to the daily work of the staff of our day care center, Hourn is finally able to walk; this mobility has allowed him to develop his relationship with other children through playing games together. The ability to walk has given him more independence and self confidence thus now he is able to move wherever he wants and eat and drink by himself.

New tool for income generation

Long Bunnin, 26 years old, is the second child of a farmer family of 6 people, living in Chak village, Kompong Chhnang province. With her three brothers, they are still living under the roof of her parents and help them in farming activities.
Unlike her younger brothers, Bunnin could not reach grade 12. When she was in grade 6, her family experienced a severe financial problem because most of their money was spent for her father’s health treatment. At that time their crops were destroyed by flooding. That is why Bunnin had to drop out of school in order to help her family.

Ven Sok Kheang è una ragazzina di 13 anni iscritta alla scuola primaria di Thlok Chrov, in Cambogia.

Kheang ha condiviso con noi la sua gioia per la visita, due volte al mese, della nostra biblioteca mobile presso il suo villaggio. Kheang è la figlia più grande nella sua famiglia ed ha molte responsabilità oltre allo studio. Ogni giorno deve cucinare per l'intera famiglia, occuparsi degli animali e ottenere lo zucchero dal succo di palma raccolto da suo padre. Nonostante tutti questi impegni lei aspetta sempre con impazienza che la biblioteca arrivi nel suo villaggio.

L'opportunità di cambiare vita

Eang Puthy è un buon esempio di madre che ha lottato strenuamente per garantire l'istruzione ai propri figli. Eang Puthy ha 51 anni e suo marito, Meas Sary, 53. Sono contadini nel villaggio di Svay Kory (distretto di Boribor) ed hanno 7 figli, tra cui 3 bambine. Le loro attività gli permettevono loro di guadagnare circa 8.000 riels al giorno (2 US$).

Puthy nel 2004 si è rivolta a New Humanity per chiedere una borsa di studio per sua figlia.
